What are the solutions most often proposed by the alternative food movement for addressing the problem of obesity?

Essays must be your own work–no collaboration with other students is allowed. You may use quotes sparingly. Be sure to go beyond your lecture notes and draw specifically on the readings of the course, using specific examples.
Your paper should be double-spaced, with one-inch margins, 12-point font, and should not exceed 5-6 pages.
Be sure to define and explain any concepts you use and use specific evidence and arguments from the readings.* Note that I mentioned this twice in a short list of instructions.
Individual Responsibility or Structural Change: Solutions in the Food Industry
First: Draw upon the articles by Marion Nestle (Food Industry Pushers, Corporate Influence on Government, and What is Safe? lecture topics) to discuss some of the ways in which food corporations control what we eat and how it is regulated. How does this place limits on “individual responsibility”? (You can also use the Frontline documentary, The Trouble with Chicken).
Next: Draw upon Julie Guthmans book, Weighing In: Obesity, Food Justice, and the Limits of Capitalism. What are the solutions most often proposed by the alternative food movement for addressing the problem of obesity? What is Guthmans critique of this approach?
Finally: What does Guthman propose instead? For instance, why does she argue for a “political ecology” approach to obesity? How does this connect to critical constructionism?
