Over two hundred years ago, Mary Wollstonecraft in A Vindication of the Rights of Women wrote: “It would be an endless task to trace the variety of meannesses, cares, and sorrows into which women are plunged by the prevailing opinion that they were created rather to feel than reason, and that all power they obtain must be obtained by their charms and weakness.” Explain this quote and write an essay about how this kind of stereotyping applies to the way women are treated or behave in one of the stories assigned in unit 4.
