As well, the case studies provide interesting insights. In general, program designers did not try to force teachers to use technology. Rather, there was a recognition that teachers could not be forced and that they would come along at different speeds. There are a number of specific strategies for achieving teacher buy-in:
Creating a core group of “early adopters”
Providing teachers with computers for personal use
Rewarding teachers for designing good instructional uses of technology
Goals for developing technology skills
Read the assigned readings. This includes EETT Criteria 4, Fremont Technology Plan. Adopt a state reviewer’s perspective in that you would read the plan to determine if the plan had met the criteria. As well, reviewers provide feedback on how to improve the plan if it needs revision.
Determine if the Fremont Technology Plan meets the minimum criteria outlined in the right most column of EETT – Criteria 4. This should include a discussion on how the criteria were or were not met, and how it was or was not discussed in the plan. If aspects of the criteria were not adequately covered then make suggestions it may be useful to offer suggestions on how to revise the plan.
Write a 2-3 page essay that covers at least the following:
The need for tech support policy levers such as the EETT and Criteria 4 as an example.
