What observations can you make about these cultures based upon their poetry?

For your initial post; select one of the poetry types from this week?s module readings and resources: Chinese or Tamil and respond to the corresponding prompt below:
Chinese Poetry
The term ?pi?is a comparison in Chinese poetry, comparable to a metaphor or simile. ?Hsing? is an image that is first presented, which then sets an association of mood or tone to the poem. Investigate the first two lines of "Boat of Cypress" and see if you can determine if this is ?hsing? or ?pi?. Explain your answer. Now, examine the definition and explanation of ?fu?, ?bi?, and ?xing? and then try to explain these terms to the class using the poem "Chung-tzu, Please.?
Tamil Poetry
Choose one short poem from the Tamil anthologies and do a close reading. Identify, where you can, the conventions explained in the lecture and text and work out what you think is going on in the poem Be sure to use the text to support your claims.
Now, in responding to your classmates? postings discuss the similarities and differences between how the natural world and social world interact in both cultures poetry. What observations can you make about these cultures based upon their poetry?
