In an analysis of 250-500 words for the film, and 250-500 words for the television show, complete the following activities:
Part 1: Exceptionalities in Media – Film
Select and view a film from the list found on the IRIS Center webpage, that features a character with an exceptionality.
As you watch the film, note:
Was the person with disabilities portrayed in a positive or negative light?
How did you feel about the way the character(s) was depicted? Explain.
After seeing the film, do you believe audiences come away having a better understanding of the disability and the challenges it presents? Why or why not?
Part 2: Exceptionalities in Media – Television
Select a television series or episode that features a character with an exceptionality.
As you watch the television episode, note:
Was the person with disabilities portrayed in a positive or negative light?
How did you feel about the way the character(s) was depicted? Explain.
After seeing the episode, do you believe audiences come away having a better understanding of the disability and the challenges it presents? Why or why not?
APA format is not required, but solid academic writing is expected.
