Identify a specific problem relevant to nursing The paper should contain an introductory description of the topic/problem explaining why it is significant to nursing and healthcare.

Purpose: This assignment is designed to allow students to identify a clinically relevant problem, formulate a PICO question, search the literature to find the best evidence to address the problem, synthesis the evidence, and explain how this intervention can be applied in practice.

1.) Identify a specific problem relevant to nursing: The paper should contain an introductory description of the topic/problem explaining why it is significant to nursing and healthcare. Identify the scope of the problem by including, if possible, the incidence, prevalence, and the cost of the problem to society. Include the PICO question in this section.

2.) Search method: Conduct a search of the literature to find a minimum of five studies: These studies should demonstrate effectiveness of an intervention to resolve the problem within a specific population. The literature search will be described and include how you conducted the literature search: which databases did you search, which search words did you use, what limits did you use, how many articles resulted in your search, how many of these did you review. If you searched an evidence-based site, such as Cochrane, include that information. For example you might write, “A literature search was completed using Cohrane Collaboration, InfoPOEMS, Medline, CINAHL and UptoDate. When searching Medline and CINAHL evidence-based filters were used. Inclusion criteria were years 2009 to 2014, English language, and research article. Key search words were “adolescent,” “menstruation,” and “education.” Include the final number of articles reviewed. Include any EB guidelines, e.g. American Heart Association. Ideally, you want articles within the last 5 years, but older articles may be necessary.

3.) Article appraisals: Each research article will be summarized and appraised including the type of study (method and design) (qualitative, quantitative, descriptive, quasi-experimental), level of evidence, sample, findings, strength of study, and limitation of study. You should have a minimum of 5 articles.
4.) Synthesis: After discussing individual studies synthesize the research (As a whole what does it say? What’s missing {gaps}?)

5.)Clinical implications/conclusion: Explain how the intervention can be applied in clinical practice and identify the setting and specific population.

6.) It must be double-spaced, and in APA format. Please use the guidelines to organize your paper. Correctly cite!

7.) Submit through TurnItIn
