How did consumerism and consumer culture continue to shape US society from the 1970s to the present?

Explain why the origins of the Cold War cannot simply be explained as the result of
Communist (Soviet) aggression, but must also account for the USs own economic and
political needs after WWII?
2. The 1950s was a decade of conformity and conflict. Discuss aspects of both.
3. The 1960s is often called a decade of protest. What were Americans so angry
(disillusioned) about and why? What were the manifestations of their protests?
4. Why did the Vietnam War expose the limits of US power and who is to blame for the US
loss there?
5. Nixon, Reagan, and Clinton are often viewed as coming from very different political
spectrums. Nixon and Reagan were Republicans and Clinton was a Democrat. But, with
regards to policy, how different were they? (I could include both Bushes and Obama in
here as well but that would be overkill.)
